My Friday Favorites: Designer approved bathroom lighting ideas
Hollywood Lights. You know them. I know you know them. The ones in your first apartment that had two bulbs out for your entire residency there. Or maybe you recognize them from your current…errr… builder-grade bathroom, lower on the remodeling priority list than say, your builder-grade kitchen. [No offense to builders. You do you.]
Luckily for you - because they are usually [hopefully] centered to your vanity, they can easily be swapped out by your neighbor electrician ;) a paint touch up and voila!
Here are several design-forward bathroom sconces that we approve to give your bathroom a little makeover, or if you’re doing a whole remodel. In which case - this is a must read.
Restoration Hardware has my little heart with the assortment of clean lined, impeccably tailored light fixtures. This fixture would be perfect in between two mirrors, and there is a single sconce version that could flank those same two mirrors if space allows.
This beauty has seeded glass, which look like little champagne bubbles with the brass backdrop. So elegant!
The simple teardrop line add a touch of femininity to an otherwise minimalist fixture.
I’ve long been a fan of the sleek, industrial lines of George Kovacs lighting, and this wall mount delivers! The white frosted glass will diffuse the light rays for that soft, flattering lighting we all seek.
If you know anything about me, you know I have the biggest girl crush on Kelly Wearstler. My girl designed a line of lighting with Visual Comfort that is To. DIE. FOR.
There’s something oddly attractive to me about this light fixture. Maybe it’s the “bulb with a bulb” thing; or maybe, just maybe, in some weird way, it reminds me of a Hollywood light bar. Who knows. Somehow, this fixture works! the swooping curves grabbed my attention! Side note: Lumens.com is a great source for beautiful, high end, lighting and more.
Okay so, maybe it’s the fun name that caught my eye [Squircle - get it? it’s not a square or a circle, but squircle? chuckle chuckle *eye roll*] or maybe it’s the fact that it comes in so many different variations [one globe: check; two globes: check; three, four: check check] or MAYBE it’s because it reminds me of hollywood lights. Yikes - you attract what you think about, and clearly these darn hollywood lights have been on my mind! Get. Out. Now. Unless you tell me some amazing back story that this company gobbled up all the ugly hollywood lights from an old light fixture factory that closed down and gave all those people new jobs making these fixtures. hmmm... that sounds like a great idea! Okay, okay - my wild imagination just got carried away.
Brought to you by my besties at West Elm. Okay, so it isn’t a vanity light or a sconce, but this fun fixture could be placed above your tub to give the feel of the chandelier over the tub, without actually violating local building codes (most require fixtures to be 8’ above the rim of the tub. Didn’t know that, did ya?) So, you’re very welcome for saving you from electrocution and/or that nit-picky building inspector.
