So much conflicting information out there…
While, yes, I probably wouldn’t suggest hardwood floors in your kid’s bathroom – the kitchen is a whole other ballgame!
Let’s be honest, when was the last time you spilled something in the kitchen and just let it sit there. If you’re anything like me, it’s a scramble over who will get to the mop first, followed by throwing down a stack of towels to soak it up, and a roll of paper towels to finish off. Adios spill!
That being said, there are certain things you can do, according to The Spruce that will help you stop fretting:
1. HAVE YOUR HARDWOODS FINISHED IN PLACE INSTEAD OF USING PRE-FINISHED FLOORING. For those of you who aren’t sure what that means: Prefinished flooring is exactly that, prefinished and installed on site. Flooring that is finished on site is installed unfinished, with stains and/or polyurethanes applied after installation. This will ensure even the tiniest groove in between planks will have a nice coat of poly to protect against that massive spill.
2. INSTALL ENGINEERED FLOORING. Yet another type of flooring, it has a thin veneer of hardwood, on top of plywood. While this can’t be refinished, like true hardwood floors, engineered flooring can hold it’s own! Plus side: usually less expensive, so you can swap it out down the road for a kitchen refresh! Win-win!
Lastly, go ahead and drool over the kitchens below with wood flooring done right! (you’re welcome)
Cheers!
